NEW BOOK

wpe30D.jpg (18496 bytes)

THE COMING INTERSPIRITUAL AGE
by Kurt Johnson and David Robert Ord, will appear in November 2012 from Namaste Publishing (the publishers of Eckhart Tolle, Michael Brown etc.).
It is a comprehensive update to "Interspirituality"-- as coined by Brother Wayne Teasdale in his classic The Mystic Heart: Discovering a Universal Spirituality in the World's Religions
It is a book written for general audiences.   Along with an in-depth view of what "Interspirituality" may become, the book melds interspirituality with the unfolding of globalization and multi-culturalism worldwide, the integral and spiral dynamics views of process and history, current studies of consciousness, brain/mind and quantum/string theory.... and a host of other elements essential to our voyage to a "civilization based on the Heart" (Bro. Wayne's words).  It is a book aimed at taking the reader through many fascinating territories and into a vision of what an interspiritual world might look like.

The book has already been endorsed by over forty leaders from across the world's religions and transformational communities as a comprehensive new guide to Interspirituality. Their comments will appear in an initial section "Advance Perspective on The Coming Interspiritual Age" in lieu of a Foreword.   Watch for further information at the following websites:

and The InterSpiritual Multiplex website linked throughout this CMH site.

A collaboration by Kurt Johnson, CMH Administrator and David Robert Ord, Editorical Director, Namaste Publishing.

NEW ASSOCIATED COMMUNITIES

As of 2011, the Community of the Mystic Heart has also moved to share its wider community, vision and mission with groups of persons able to live in varying degrees of experimental interspiritual community. These communities, like CMH, are members of, and associated with each other through, the Order of Universal Interfaith (www.ouni.org). We welcome you to examine these communities at our “Associated Communities” page HERE.

CMH Leadership Circle cooperated with One Spirit Course on Brother Wayne's "Nine Elements of a Universal Spirituality".

This was a one-night-per-month for six months, Nov. 4-April 2011 course-- with supplemental discussion groups, conference calls and internet sharing.   Members of the CMH Leadership Circle, and others, led these latter components.

Salons for Exploring Interspirituality

by Ellen Friedman, CMH Austin

Are you ready for meaningful conversation about the nine elements of mature interspirituality?  Have you recently taken vows into the Community of the Mystic Heart or are considering taking the vows based on the nine elements?

Join us for an interspiritual salon in your community. Salons are sacred containers for dialogue, reflection, and inspiration. The salon process varies from community to community. In Austin, conversations are both fluid and focused. A facilitator holds the space, gently keeps us on topic, and nurtures the conversation. In other communities, salons may feature timed rounds with specific intent or open dialogue with a broad focus. No matter the model, the CMH salons will nurture individual and collective understanding and build interspiritual community.

The nine elements identified by Br. Wayne Teasdale in The Mystic Heart include: actual moral and ethical capacity, solidarity with all beings, deep nonviolence, humility, spiritual practice, mature self-knowledge, life of simplicity, selfless service and compassionate action and prophetic voice. Being both aspirational and the full-flowering of the spiritual life, the elements act as a guide to bring the rich meaning derived from diverse spiritual practices and ultimate experiences into the world through our actions.

The CMH community in Austin will begin hosting salons in October. We’ll explore the nine elements, unpack their meaning, and bring them down to earth by exploring how we integrate them in our daily lives. The salons will lay the foundation for an interspiritual community in Austin and move us toward a CMH induction in early 2011.

For more detail about the interspiritual salons and the emerging CMH community in Austin, contact Ellen Friedman at ellen@ellenfriedman.com.

Why we Changed Our Name:  Although "The Universal Order of Sannyasa" was the name used by Brother Wayne throughout his writings, we found that use of the term "Sannyasa" in a non-traditional sense caused discomfort for some traditional Sannyasa and, further, the term was unfamiliar, or seemed too exclusive, to others in the unfolding international interspiritual dialogue
